ESC in Vrábsko

Overview

We are an eco-community of 15 people living in a beautiful land surrounded by meadows, forests and ponds, 1,5 hour south of Prague, the Czech Republic.

We plan to share our experiences and know how on various topics like nontoxic, minimalist and zero waste household, soap making, weaving, fasting, raw vegan and vegan diet, mushroom picking, etc. By living here you will get many opportunities to learn about self-development, nonviolent communication and other communication skills.

For 2024 we are offering these types of ESC* volunteering:

*ESC = European Solidarity Corps for young people between 18 and 30 years of age

  1. Short Term Volunteering in Teams 26th March to 18th April
  2. Long Term Individual Volunteering from March to December for two people (preferably a couple)
  3. Long Term Individual Volunteering from May to October
  4. Short Term Volunteering in Teams in September-October (details to be specified later)
3 Weeks of Volunteering in Teams (26/3 – 18/4/2024)

We are looking for 13 young people from EU countries (including the Czech Republic) for three weeks volunteering in teams, which will be taking place from 26th March to 18th April 2024. The accommodation will be in Yurts with a shared indoor bathroom (shower & normal toilet) and outdoor dry toilets.

Teams tasks will be mostly focused on:

  • Preparing the permaculture garden for a growing season. That will be done in a form of week-long workshops led by permaculture and organic gardener. Theoretical, practical and playfully.
  • Maintaining existing constructions, such as Yurts, and possibly building new ones (e.g., a tool shed in the garden). That will be done under supervision of skilled craftsmen with full instructions on how to use power tools etc.
  • Some smaller tasks around community areas, let see what space will call for and what team finds important/possible.
  • In addition, three people will be dedicated each day to cooking vegan food for the team and community members.

All activities are designed to be learning experiences, providing participants with opportunities for growth and development. Workshops on various topics (one per week, based on the choice of team members) will also be available.

The help will be for 35hours per week and the accommodation, food and pocket money (7Eur/day), the travel expenses are covered by the ESC. Please make sure you fill in this application form for the volunteering teams.

Individual Long Term Volunteering (March-December 2024)

We are looking for two motivated young people from EU countries (excluding the Czech Republic) for long term individual volunteering. The accommodation is in a shared room with a possibility to stay overnight in a teepee or tents in warmer months. More details on practical stuff here.

The help will be for 35hours per week and we provide the accommodation, food and pocket money (7Eur/day). The volunteers will be able to experience life in a community, help to develop a starting eco village, learn to grow food in a permaculture way and plant trees, fermentate, make kombucha drinks and remedies, cook vegan and raw food recipes, learn to run a community zero waste shop and some basics of natural building. Furthermore the volunteers might learn about carpet weaving, sewing, soap making or wood carving upon their interest. Long Term Individual Volunteering (May-October 2024)

We are looking for one motivated young person from EU country (excluding the Czech Republic) for long term individual volunteering which will take place in the most active part of our growing season! The accommodation is in a caravan with a possibility to stay overnight in a teepee or tent in warmer months. More details on practical stuff here.

Your tasks will be mostly focused on sustaining garden which includes watering, mulching, taking care of compost, weeding, harvesting and processing fruits and veggies.

The help will be for 35hours per week and we provide the accommodationfood and pocket money (7Eur/day). The volunteer will be able to experience life in a community, help to develop a starting eco village, learn to grow food in a permaculture way and plant trees, fermentate, make kombucha drinks and remedies, cook vegan and raw food recipes, learn to run a community zero waste shop and some basics of natural building.
